Tank sanitation and water purification
Potassium permanganate can be used to make water safe to drink or make a sterilizing wash to clean wounds. Just a few grains will purify water - light pink (like that water the dentists has you rinse with) - while a small pinch will make a stronger, dark purple mixture to sterilize water tanks, clean flesh wounds, or kill foot fungus.100 grams (~1/4 lb) will purify (light pink) your fresh water tank for a year or more depending on tank size and how frequently you put it in your water.
500g (~1 lb) will last many years of water purification and tank sterilization (dark purple). You could probably sterilize a couple of Olympic sized swimming pools with 500g.
Hydrogen peroxide will neutralize potassium permanganate and vise-verse.
Add a little Glycerin to a small pile of permanganate and it will start a camp fire for ya.
